The Holiday Season means different things to different people, but I suggest that however one chooses to participate in the Season, it is based on three tenets: Love, Peace, and Joy.
When we Love, we give compassion, empathy, respect, caring, and grace to our brothers and sisters. The goal is to make them feel appreciated; while also receiving the appreciation they have for you. Marvin Gaye sang a song named “God is Love”, and one of the lyrics was …”all he asks of us is to give each other Love.” Simple.
So when we give Love, and receive Love, we develop a yearning for Peace. We become more willing to cooperate instead of competing against each other. Our perspectives and perceptions become based on a desire to resolve differences, and find commonalities. In embracing and practicing this kind of behavior, we generate Peace.
When we generate Peace, the outcome is Joy. Not necessarily happiness since happiness can be derived from a variety of external factors. Instead, Joy is an internal realization manifested by divine spirituality that is rooted in the Love within our families, communities, and societies. When we create and embrace Peace, Joy becomes our reward.
This Holiday Season I wish you ever enduring Love, everlasting Peace, and abundant Joy.
